Pond Stocking Instructions

Never leave bags of trout unattended. They may float away to an area of your pond that is not accessible.
Stocking Instructions for Trout when surface water Temperatures do NOT exceed 70 Degrees.
70-degree surface water temperature is typically warm to the touch.
1) Open the box and remove the inside bag without opening it. Try to pick a deep area close to the shore that enables you to reach the bags. Move any moss away from the area so the fish don’t become stuck.
2) Depending on the outside temperature, float the bags for 15 to 30 minutes; but not more than 45 minutes as the pumped-in oxygen will start to deplete.
3) Open one or two bags and mix in some pond water. Let a few trout into the pond. If they swim away or go down to the bottom and sit and rest, they are OK. You can then safely release the remaining trout into the pond.
If they skitter erratically on the surface or lay on their side, add more pond water to the open bags, wait a few more minutes, and then release a few more trout to see what their reaction is.
A temperature difference of more than 5 degrees between the water in the bag and the pond water can shock or kill the trout.
